About
Working with kids is my passion.I believe that relationships are the core of positive well-being, and we only begin to know ourselves through how others interact and respond to us, whether good or bad, beginning from our first moments of life. My goal is to better understand an individual’s view of themselves and re-write this with them together through new, positive interactions, weeding out the lies that have been projected onto them, and building up a new sense of self. With children, much of this occurs through play and interactive activities.
I believe that building positive relationships and a positive view of self are key to growth and healing. Developing strong positive attachments with adult caregivers, developing trust, feeling safe, and taking risks are essential to positive emotional growth. I believe that children and adults must be seen, accepted, and loved as their most broken parts to fully be able to grow into their best parts. I work to build a safe environment with all of my clients, working toward deconstructing past views of self and developing a new path forward.
With adults, I work toward understanding different parts of the individual and how those parts may be working in maladaptive ways in attempts to protect and help. Some of these parts may come from experiences in childhood, and some may not. We will look closely at how to shift these parts into more helpful and healthy ways of being.
