Services
Turner Therapy & Counseling, LLC provides individual, family, group, couples, and many more different types therapy. Therapy focuses on promoting healing and personal growth for individuals.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy consists of choosing a therapist where a therapeutic relationship can develop, allowing healing change around the presenting wounds and struggles. This is achieved by first meeting regularly with the therapist (weekly or bi-weekly for 50 minutes a session) with focus on agreeable treatment plan goals. At every point in the treatment you may express a desire to change the goals or treatment. The therapist is there to support you with what you identify as important. The therapist will collaborate with what provider(s) you ask them to in order to create the best outcome for you.
Couples Therapy
We work with married and unmarried couples across a wide spectrum. Whether you need help getting “unstuck” or you are looking for better communication skills, premarital counseling, or have significant disconnection, we’re here to help.
Group Therapy
Group Therapy is facilitated by a therapist and involves a group of about 4-10 individuals who come together for regular 1.5-2 hour weekly sessions. Groups can be open or closed, meaning that new people may join the group or not after it begins. Some groups may be more structured in nature, such as a dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) group, and some may be less structured, such as an art therapy group. Often times group members share similar experiences and are working through similar issues; therefore, the benefits of group work may include feeling that you are not alone and that you belong, gaining knowledge and hope for the future through witnessing other members’ experiences/successes, being able to contribute to helping and supporting others, gaining personal insight through feedback from other members, and having the opportunity to practice and develop communication skills with others as a way to improve interpersonal relationships.
Family Therapy
Family therapy can start from the beginning of therapy work or included in the process of individual therapy. Families are part of the core of our identities. Many of the stressors we experience directly impact our families, so including the entire family in a healing experience can enrich overall health. It can include as many or as few people as you choose, and work toward a goal you identify. Family therapy creates an environment of healthy communication and effective problem solving.
